Vendor Notebook: AT&T allies with Acuo Technologies

AT&T has partnered with Acuo Technologies, a provider of comprehensive software solutions to the medical imaging industry for archiving, collaboration and migration services. The strategic alliance is meant to develop vendor-neutral, cloud-based medical imaging storage solutions for healthcare providers and suppliers. Acuo is the latest technology ally to join the AT&T ForHealth portfolio of mHealth, cloud-based and telehealth products and solutions.

SFW Capital Partners, a private equity firm that invests with management in mid-sized companies providing analytical tools and related services, announced that it has purchased MD Buyline, a provider of strategic information and analyses to healthcare services companies. SFW is joined in this investment by members of the senior management of the company. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

SCIOinspire, a premier provider of analytics-driven business process solutions for health plans and hospitals, announced it has acquired National Audit, a healthcare claims audit and payment integrity services provider to large commercial, Medicare and Medicaid payers, as well as Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM). The acquisition elevates SCIOinspire to a top-tier, independent cost-management and care quality-improvement company with the most comprehensive set of solutions in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Chrono, maker of tablet and Web-based healthcare technology, recently completed a week-long tour of Haiti, whereby it donated its time, equipment and services to rendering much-needed modern health care services. Dr. Chrono partnered with World Wide Village’s (WWV) Community Health Initiative to utilize its one-of-a-kind iPad EMR platform in the care of those still struggling in the wake of last year’s devastating earthquake. The effort coincided with the one-year anniversary of the tragic event.

Emerson Network Power announced that it has reached an agreement to provide its Aperture data center management system to LCH.Clearnet Limited’s (LCH.Clearnet) London data centers. The software facilitates LCH.Clearnet’s data center management to better understand the relationship between their IT devices and the underlying infrastructure and to use that information to optimize their use of IT and human resources.

ScImage announced, the implementation of a diverse mix of Advanced Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) installations for several strategic accounts. These complex VNA implementations re-define the routine, file storage task of a typical VNA. Examples of the diverse capability of ScImage’s Advanced VNA include a university medical center in New York, where the VNA provides archive services for 7 different PACS systems, supporting 5 departments at two distinct facilities, including EMR image enablement for all connected systems.

The TriZetto Group announced the general availability of its FacetsTM 4.8 release, the newest version of the company’s enterprise core administration platform. This newest release introduces more than 80 enhancements that can help increase administrative efficiency for health plans. The Facets system automates membership enrollment, premium billing, claims adjudication, customer service and other administrative functions of 82 payers with more than 90 million covered lives.

T-System, developer of clinical, business and I.T. solutions for emergency medicine, announced that its emergency department information system, T SystemEV, successfully completed a series of interoperability tests at the recently held 12th annual Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE ) North America Connectathon in Chicago.

Medicity has also announced successful validation of its interoperability expertise at the Connectathon. During the five-day event, Medicity demonstrated interoperability with more than 40 organizations and early adoption of new, HIE-focused standards using its MediTrust and ProAccess products.
 
Capsule, the provider of medical device connectivity, announced that it has sold over 1,100 Capsule Neurons to more than 35 hospitals in less than 10 months since its release. Facilities such as Parkview Health and Mercy Health System chose the Capsule Neuron because of its revolutionary design that integrates with existing technologies and clinical workflows.

Carestream Health reports steady demand for its award-winning family of systems based on the wireless, cassette-size CARESTREAM DRX-1 detector. The company’s DRX-based imaging systems enable healthcare providers worldwide to improve productivity while simultaneously enhancing patient care. Carestream Health’s DRX solutions include the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit and CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution suite. TriageLogic, a provider of quality and affordable triage solutions in healthcare, announces full implementation of its Call Center Solution at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital located in Cleveland, Ohio. The installation of the Call Center Solution software system at the Rainbow Call Center, one of the country’s largest nurse triage programs, is a prime example of TriageLogic’s ability to customize, implement and upgrade its specialized application to best fit the needs of the client.  
 
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. announced that Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute (PBOI) will leverage revenue cycle management services from NextGen Practice Solutions to optimize its collections and drive business growth. An orthopaedic practice in Florida, PBOI’s board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians offer comprehensive, multi-specialty orthopaedic care, such as physical medicine and rehabilitation and podiatry.

Healthcare Interactive has integrated a wireless heart monitoring system produced by Pennsylvania-based wireless diagnostics firm RMDDx into its suite of Healthcare Performance Management software. Healthcare Interactive's software helps health plan sponsors identify employees and dependents who may be at risk for medically significant arrhythmias. Those who elect to participate in the program wear an unobtrusive medical device that tracks every heartbeat and transmits the electrocardiogram (ECG) data to a secure monitoring center, where it's analyzed for irregularities.
 
SRS, the provider of productivity-enhancing EHR technology and services for high-performance specialty practices, announced that the Eye Faculty Practice has selected the SRS EHR for its 13 providers. With its main office located at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Eye Faculty Practice provides specialized treatment to patients within the five boroughs of New York City and the greater New York Metropolitan Area.

Pharmacy OneSource, a software-as-a-service provider to more than 1,300 hospitals in the United States, announced that Decatur County Memorial Hospital won the 2010 Pharmacist Intervention Challenge with the most interventions per hospital bed. Quantifi, Pharmacy OneSource’s clinical communication and documentation tool, is used by more than 50,000 healthcare professionals who documented $689 million in savings through interventions in 2010. Quantifi captures both the actual dollar savings via reduction in supply costs and potential costs savings through risk avoidance.athenahealth has announced that St. Vincent’s HealthCare (SVHC), a not-for-profit regional medical facility in Jacksonville, Florida, will deploy

athenahealth’s cloud-based physician medical billing and practice management service, athenaCollector, to its growing network of more than 120 employed medical providers. SVHC is recognized for its use of technology to drive efficiencies into the health supply chain. athenaCollector will help shift increasingly burdensome administrative functions away from SVHC’s network of providers, allowing them to focus on patient care.
