Kony Solutions has unveiled a new app designed to help health insurers and health plan providers offer mobile access to their members.
Member Mobile offers access to mobile, tablet and kiosk channels, officials say, allowing administrators to enhance member engagement, medication management, health plan and provider communication and health and wellness initiatives.
“Kony delivers capability to reach 99 percent of a mobile target audience, including every major smartphone operating system and nearly all mobile devices. When customers want to add features or modify their offering, the Member Mobile solution allows them to ‘change once, change everywhere,’” said Aaron Kaufman, general manager of Orlando, Fla.-based company’s healthcare and life sciences division, in a recent press release. “Every major and regional health plan, including employer-directed HSAs, HRAs, FSAs and Medigap programs, faces continued pressure to offer the highest quality service in a highly competitive landscape. Keeping costs low and leveraging the latest mobile technology channels for presence helps drive satisfaction and member stickiness. Kony’s Member Mobile can make ROI a reality, even for plans that did not budget for mobile earlier this year.”
“Kony mobile apps support health plans seeking to differentiate themselves by bringing interactive health information to the fingertips of their members,” added Edward Gross, director of product development for the company’s healthcare and life sciences division. “Our turn-key offering is a branded, quick-to-market solution that delivers a superior user experience on all devices – iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, feature phones, tablets, kiosks and more. The Kony Platform is highly customizable and scalable, as well, and is proven to future-proof a health plan’s mobile investment.”
According to Kony officials, Member Mobile can be used by a health plan to provide members with online registration and browsing tools; geo-location tools to locate providers and facilities; appointment scheduling; benefit status information; prescription management tools; PBM workflow; contact details; access to personal health records and wellness information and tools.
Health plans and insurers are among the more active industries adopting mobile technology to communicate with members. Among the early adopters are Kaiser Permenente, AmeriHealth, Aetna, UnitedHealth, CareFirst, Independence Blue Cross, Health Net, HCSC and WellPoint.
Kony’s newest offering follows a survey conducted earlier this year of Fortune 500 companies, which indicated 40 percent of organizations believe developing applications across multiple operating systems and devices is the biggest challenge in their mobile strategy. Other concerns included keeping up with changes in the mobile market (27 percent) and supporting connectivity and technology challenges/updates (20 percent).
“As companies increasingly look to mobile to help them achieve strategic business goals, they are faced with very real challenges due to the fragmentation of the mobile industry,” said Raj Koneru, founder and CEO of Kony, in a press release accompanying the survey results.. “With the rate at which the mobile landscape is evolving, it’s vital for these companies to choose a partner with capabilities across a multitude of devices and channels, including tablets, to ensure their offering reaches their full customer base.”
“The internal debate at many organizations is no longer about whether or not they need a mobile offering, but about the most effective way to develop and deploy one across all devices and operating systems,” Koneru added. “We address this problem head on, having built our platform from the ground up to develop, deploy and maintain offerings across numerous devices, operating systems and channels.”
