XRHealth, a company offering immersive therapeutics, has announced a partnership with Kemtai, an AI-enabled computer vision exercise coaching platform, to incorporate motion analysis technology into XRHealth's physical therapy experiences.
XRHealth offers medical extended reality (XR) experiences that focus on the physical and cognitive domains, including immersive environments aimed at reducing pain perception during medical procedures and facilitating occupational and physical rehabilitation.
It also offers treatment environments to assist with behavioral therapy, such as PTSD, stress, addiction and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Kemtai offers AI-powered real-time tracking and assessments of body movements using standard device cameras. Its platform provides real-time feedback and corrective guidance to patients.
Through the alliance, users of XRHealth's immersive experiences will be able to receive real-time feedback, performance scores and clinician-guided instructions on movement during rehabilitation. The offerings will aid patients with orthopedic, neurological and post-surgical conditions.
"We're thrilled to partner with XRHealth to elevate physical therapy to the next level," Mike Telem, cofounder of Kemtai, said in a statement.
"By combining our technologies, patients can benefit from both immersive motivation and precise motion coaching—all from the comfort of their own home."
THE LARGER TREND
Earlier this year, XRHealth acquired RealizedCare, a virtual reality digital therapeutics company that combined digital therapeutics with wraparound virtual services to offer value-based chronic care management.
RealizedCare was formed in 2023 as a result of a merger between VR behavioral health platform BehaVR and virtual chronic care management company Fern Health.
Through the acquisition, XRHealth integrated RealizedCare's offerings into its platform.
Last year, XRHealth acquired VR-enabled cognitive training platform NeuroReality. The acquisition included all of NeuroReality's assets, including its flagship rehabilitation product, Koji's Quest.
The Boston company also announced it was integrating AI into its technology to allow clinicians to transition between various therapeutic settings.
XRHealth said that at the center of the platform is the AI generator, which enables the creation of custom 360-degree environments tailored to individual therapeutic needs. Additionally, the feature allows for the generation of avatars using AI and XR to enhance patient interaction and personalization.
In 2023, the medical XR company acquired Amelia Virtual Care, a VR platform for mental health professionals.
Amelia allowed providers to connect directly with patients via its platform, but since the acquisition, the offering has been pulled from the direct-to-provider space.
