Philips has announced a collaboration with the non-profit organization Imaging the World (ITW). The joint ambition of the organizations is to improve the quality of people’s lives and healthcare in Africa through meaningful healthcare solutions, education and research. The organizations’ work together consists of three strong pillars: contribution of two Philips CX50 CompactXtreme portable ultrasound systems for use in Uganda, technical training on the ultrasound systems, and financial support. Philips will provide $100,000 to support joint research projects that will provide insight into the customer needs for a low-cost ultrasound solution in rural areas where ultrasound exams are not routinely available.
GE Healthcare has announced that the University of Colorado Hospital’s NICU is leveraging the company’s latest bedside monitor, the CARESCAPE Monitor B850, to address the Hospital’s NICU care priorities. UCH has significant goals to reduce common premature infant complications such as heart defects and arrhythmias, among others. As part of this, UCH decided to undergo a major NICU re-design during which the purchasing director, nurses, physicians and other clinicians involved in NICU care came together to develop a NICU environment utilizing the latest technology to support developmentally appropriate care.
Rubbermaid Medical Solutions has today announced the addition of an adjustable height wall cabinet to its line of wall-mounted electronic medical record (EMR) workstations. The new wall-mounted workstation has an electronic lift with 15 inches of height adjustment to accommodate a variety of users in the seated or standing positions. In addition to the electronic lift, the adjustable height wall cabinet offers enhanced security through a PIN code locking system and a proximity sensor that detects when the user walks away and automatically closes the workstation to prevent unauthorized access.

Medicity has been selected by Vermont Information Technology Leaders, operator of Vermont's statewide health information exchange (HIE), to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care in Vermont. With Medicity, VITL will expand the services available to its existing VHIE customers, as well as connect the remaining Vermont hospitals and physician practices to the VHIE and the Blueprint for Health registry. VITL will also extend HIE access to other Vermont health care organizations, including nursing homes and mental health agencies.
Viztek has announced that Paris Orthopedics, a multi-physician sub-specialty practice in Paris, Texas, has selected its Opal-ORTHO and U-Arm digital radiography (DR) solution for its orthopedic imaging suite. Laserfiche has announced that Australia’s Public Record Office Victoria has certified Laserfiche against all five specifications of the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS) Standard. The new certification includes tamper-proof security to guarantee electronic document integrity and digital signature support for both documents and briefcases. In addition to VERS, Laserfiche Records Management Edition has been certified as compliant with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 standard since 2003. This database will be used for market analysis and sales planning, as well as to drive marketing programs and sales prospecting efforts. The master database will be built and maintained at HDS’ Lincoln, Neb. Database Operations Center.
