Harris Corporation and Johns Hopkins Medicine have announced a joint venture to develop next-generation medical image management solutions. The collaboration brings together Harris' health information and security technologies with Johns Hopkins' clinical expertise to fuel innovations in medical image management. The venture will focus on developing medical image management solutions to be deployed by the Johns Hopkins Health System and later, to hospitals and health care providers around the country.
ARAMARK Healthcare announced recently that it has acquired Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based Masterplan, a clinical technology management and medical equipment maintenance company. With the buy, ARAMARK expands its capabilities to service all levels of hospital clinical technology, from high-end imaging equipment, such as MRI and CT devices, to common infusion pumps used in daily patient care.
Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE), a Web-based EHR provider, has been named a preferred vendor by HITArkansas, the regional extension center for Arkansas. The 779-bed medical center provides the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. VCU Medical Center conducts up to 311,900 medical imaging procedures a year, including 43,000 X-ray exams in its ER.

Novation, the healthcare industry supply contracting company, announced that it has awarded agreements to Briggs Medical Service Co. in West Des Moines, Iowa and Medline Industries in Mundelein, Ill. for Hand-Held Diagnostic Tools: Sphygmomanometers. Based on current purchasing trends, pricing for this agreement is 0.4 percent lower than the previous agreement. Compared to average market pricing, contract pricing is 2.7 percent to 4.2 percent lower.

GE Healthcare announced that Centricity Perinatal 6.90 has received Modular EHR Certification. This solution enables eligible providers and hospitals to use the Centricity Perinatal solution as part of their efforts to meet meaningful use measures and qualify for federal health IT incentives. Centricity Perinatal, an EHR Module, is 2011/2012 compliant. It has been certified by InfoGard, an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
