During Apple's event today, the tech giant announced new health features for its AirPods Pro 3 and Apple Watch Series 11, which include heart rate sensing in the ear pods and chronic high blood pressure, hypertension detection and a sleep score in the new Watch Series 11.

AirPods Pro 3

Apple introduced its next-generation ear pods, the AirPods Pro 3, which can measure heart rate and track over 50 different workout types and calories burned.

The tech giant announced that health monitoring features with AirPods Pro 3 include heart sensing during workouts with custom-built heart rate.

Battery life was also expanded to up to 10 hours on a single charge.

AirPods Pro 3 can be preordered today and will retail for $249. They will be available on Sept. 19.

Watch Series

During its event, the tech giant also announced the launch of its new Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.

The Watch Series 11 includes new advanced health features, including hypertension notifications if the watch detects signs of chronic high blood pressure.

"Hypertension notifications on Apple Watch use data from the optical heart sensor to analyze how a user's blood vessels respond to the beats of the heart," the tech giant said.

Apple said its algorithm works in the background, reviewing the wearer's blood pressure data over 30-day periods. It will notify the wearer if it identifies chronic high blood pressure.

The tech giant said its technology is based on a series of medical studies with 100,000 participants.

It relayed that the Watch will not detect all instances of hypertension, but the company stated during the event that it expects to notify over one million individuals with undiagnosed hypertension in the first year alone.

The company said it expects clearance from the FDA and other regulators "soon."

Apple also announced that the Watch Series 11 will be equipped with new sleep features, including a sleep score that will help the wearer understand the quality of their sleep, using analysis of sleep duration.

It also announced its new entry-level smartwatch, the Apple Watch SE 3, which will include health features, such as sleep score, sleep apnea notifications, wrist temperature sensing and retrospective ovulation estimates.

The watch lineup will be available in 150 countries and regions this month, including the U.S. and the European Union.

The tech giant also announced the launch of watchOS 26 this fall, which will include a "Workout Buddy."

Additionally, the Watch lineup includes 5G technology with cellular connection.

Consumers can preorder the Apple Watch lineup today ahead of a public release on Sept. 19.

iPhone 17

Apple unveiled four new iPhones: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the thinnest iPhone ever, the iPhone Air.

The new iPhones will feature live translation and visual intelligence, an increase of 8 hours in video playback over the iPhone 16, and enhanced battery life, with 10 minutes of charging providing up to 8 hours of video playback.

The iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever made at just 5.6mm with a 6.5-inch display.

The tech giant did not announce new health features with its newest iPhone lineup.
