Abridge, a generative AI platform for clinical conversations, announced it is partnering with Connecticut-based healthcare network Hartford HealthCare to assist its providers with clinical documentation.
The Pennsylvania-based company, founded in 2018, offers an enterprise-grade AI platform that converts medical conversations into clinically functional and billable documentation at the point of care.
After a successful pilot to test Abridge's platform within Hartford's network, the pair said it will now develop tools together and scale its platform to nurses, advanced practitioners and physicians across Hartford HealthCare.
Looking to the future, the companies said they will expand their collaboration to explore how ambient AI can reshape revenue cycle management and nursing workflows, support point-of-care decision-making and assist in value-based care.
"The notes built from the conversations with clinicians and their patients are the foundation of the patient record, and capturing them effortlessly has an outsized impact on both the patient's and the clinician's experience," Dr. Barry Stein, vice president and chief clinical innovation officer at Hartford HealthCare, said in a statement. "Abridge understands this and their vision is aligned with ours."
THE LARGER TREND
In June, Abridge raised $300 million in Series E funding, bringing its valuation to a reported $5.3 billion. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation by Khosla Ventures.
The Series E round came just four months after the company announced it secured $250 million in Series D funding.
In 2022, Abridge raised $12.5 million in Series A-1 funding.
Abridge has formed numerous partnerships over the last two years.
Last year, the company announced it would partner with Northern California-based healthcare system Sutter Health, which will allow Abridge's clinical documentation software to be available to Sutter clinicians.
Shortly thereafter, the company announced collaborations with health IT giant Epic and healthcare system Mayo Clinic to create a genAI documentation platform that integrates Abridge's tools into Epic's EHR for Mayo Clinic nurses.
Earlier this year, health system Inova Health announced it chose Abridge as its system-wide generative AI platform for clinical conversations with the aim of improving documentation for clinicians.
